Delhi, Bengal and Baroda romped to easy victories on Day Three of the Ranji Trophy Round Seven yesterday.
Delhi trounced Vidarbha by an innings and 156 runs at the Roshanara Ground to be second in the Group ‘A’ points table behind Mumbai with 19 points from six matches.
The home team was in the driver’s seat after dismissing Vidarbha for 88 on Day One. Delhi declaring at their day two overnight score of 448 for nine, after which Vidarbha managed just 204 in their second attempt.
In Kolkata, Bengal won their first game of the season beating Uttar Pradesh by eight wickets in a Group ‘B’ match at the Eden Gardens. Uttar Pradesh were bowled out for 140 in their second innings, leaving the hosts a 70-run target which they reached in 18.1 overs.
In Vadodara, Munaf Patel’s career-best 6 for 13 saw Services crumble to their lowest score of the season — 31 all out — as Baroda won by an innings victory. Services began at 2 for 1, and 178 behind.
Services added just two runs before seamer Gagandeep Singh struck. Munaf then ran through to leave Services at 5 for 5 in the 11th over. Just two batsmen managed to score over two runs while only Vishnu Tiwari (14) was the only player to get into double figures as Services were bowled out in the 20th over.
