They say when in Rome, do as the Romans do. And that’s exactly what Ranveer Singh is doing, while shooting for his next film in Kolkata.

Sources from the sets say the actor picked up Bengali in order to get to know the film’s crew in Kolkata. Ranveer was also in the city earlier to shoot Vikramaditya Motwane’s film opposite Sonakshi Sinha.

A source says, “Ranveer has been shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s film. He likes the city and during one shot was required to interact with local villagers. Ranveer believes in doing whatever it takes to achieve the desired effect for a scene, even if it means adopting some rather unconventional techniques.”

The scene required the actor to make the villagers laugh and it was no easy task. “The actor tried his hand in tickling their funny bones but his efforts were in vain,” adds the source.

Instead of giving up, the actor became friendly with one of the locals and learnt some dirty jokes in Bengali.

An insider says, “He joked about with the villagers and instantly got them to laugh. It looked so natural. It was a big surprise for the crew and a bigger one for the villagers.”

The actor reveals his secret, “Those guys were being stiff and formal. I figured this would be the best way to break the ice, get a natural roar of laughter out of them. It worked and Ali was very happy.”u00a0
