The 22-year-old Air India cabin crew member who was arrested by the Crime Branch on Wednesday for allegedly raping a girl on the pretext of marriage, escaped from Nagpada Hospital on Friday where he was brought for his routine medical check-up

According to a police official, the accused, Raj Jitendra Patel, gave cops the slip while getting into a taxi to go to Borivli police station at 5 pm, after his check-up at Nagpada Hospital.

“The police team sat inside the cab and Patel just pushed them and ran. Later, a fresh case was registered at the Nagpada police station and we are searching for the accused,” he added.

Before this, Patel was booked under Section 376 (rape), Section 377 (unnatural sex) and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
