Armaan Kohli, one of the contestants in the reality show Bigg Boss (Season 7), was yesterday released on bail of Rs 50,000 and two solvent sureties of like amount in a case filed by co-participant Sofia Hayat.

Armaan was arrested from the Big Boss house in Lonavla on Monday night after Hayat, a British actor and singer, filed a complaint against him with the Santacruz police station in Mumbai on December 11, days after she was evicted from the show.

Kohli was booked under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354 a (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.

Kohli’s advocate Sanjay Wandre maintained that since the sections under which the actor was booked were bailable, he was granted bail. He confirmed that Kohli returned back to the Bigg Boss house around 4.30 pm.

“After Kohli’s father and another relative arrived in Lonavala, they submitted an application requesting his release on bail at the police station,” Wandre said. He added that under section 107 of the CrPC, Kohli was asked to file a bond assuring good behaviour in future before the executive magistrate of Wadgaon Maval.

The incident
During their stay on the show, an argument broke out between Hayat and Kohli. He allegedly hit her on the face with a mop during a task on the show, which triggered her decision to lodge a police case against him.
