Choreographer-filmmaker Remo D'Souza has approached kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj's troupe to appear on a dance reality show, which sees him as judge. He confirms the development to mid-day, and adds, "It's an honour for the unit to have Birju Maharaj's group of trained dancers participate on this stage. It's going to be an experience that the contestants, viewers and the unit will cherish."

Citing the rules, a well-placed source says, "The finalists have to take part in a dance-off with world-renowned dance troupes in the final round. This time, it will be interesting to see them battle it out with Birju Maharaj's troupe. They are trained professionals who take part in world tours. It won't be an easy feat for our contestants to compete with them."

D'Souza adds that this move will put the spotlight on Indian dance forms again. "In this era, while contemporary dance styles are becoming popular, Indian classical is being neglected. Hopefully, through this effort, we will be able to redefine kathak, and showcase the grace and beauty of this style on Indian television."
