The seat of power surely did not prove a bed of roses for B S Yeddyurappa with him landing in jail. But for now, the former chief minister is reclining on the (Kurl-on) bed allocated to him following his doctor's prescription to cushion the hardship of his prison stay and is pensive about spending a restless night ahead of the D-Day.

VIP visitors
Though he may be in solitary confinement, Yeddyurappa still relishes homemade food brought by power minister Shobha Karandlaje and he stillu00a0 enjoys the company of friends, albeit inside the jail.

The list of visitors also includes loyalists and ministers M P Renukacharya, V Somanna and Basavaraja Bommai.
"The leaders normally come during the early part of the day; Shoba comes here in the night with dinner. And everyday, she holds a private meeting with the jailed leader," said a source.

With support pouring in from Yeddyurappa's aides, including his Man Friday Siddalingaswamy, even camping in jail to ensure his comfortable stay, the former chief minister appears to be gradually feeling at home here.

Special perks

According the jail sources, apart from his friends and supporters visiting him regularly, Yeddyurappa has also been extended special comforts like an LCD TV. Also, some of the inmates have been deputed to give him a massage from time to time.

Last month, Yeddyurappa staged a high-voltage drama when in a desperate bid to evade a jail stay, he got himself admitted in hospitals on health grounds for two days.

He was however shifted back to the jail following scathing media reports on his hospital-hopping spree and chiding from the party high command, leaving the Lingayat leader red-faced.

Yeddyurappa was sent to jail on October 15 after the Lokayukta special court rejected his bail plea in two of the five cases of land scam filed against him by two JD(s)-backed lawyers.

Of the two cases, for which has been sent to custody, the High Court has already granted him bail in one case last week. And he is hopeful of getting bail in the second case today and walk free as arguments on the plea are almost over.

Verbal duel
Meanwhile, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa's jail visit yesterday has fueled speculations of a tiff between him and Yeddyurappa.

They are reportedly at loggerheads over the issue of holding the reins of the party in the state. Eswarappa, who visited Yeddyurappa to discuss Sriramulu's candidature in the Bellary (rural) by-polls, is said to have got into a heated argument with the jailed leader.

Eswarappa, however, contested the claims. "I visited Yeddyurappa as a party colleague and there was no need to argue with him on anything," he said.
