Rizvi College skipper Swapnil Salvi was elated after winning a contract with Red Bull to train for 22 weeks at the Urmston Cricket Club in Manchester, United Kingdom (UK).

His joy doubled as Rizvi won the India leg of the inaugural Red Bull Campus Cricket tournament with a five-run victory over Bangalore’s Jain University in the final at the Cricket Club of India yesterday.

Salvi was adjudged the man of the series and best batsman. Salvi explained that things were finally falling in place for him. “This is unbelievable. I can’t wait to pack my bags and head to UK.

This is like a jackpot for me. Last year, I was picked in the Mumbai Ranji squad, but I couldn’t make my debut. I am glad that slowly things are moving in the right direction,” said the Borivli resident.
