Students protest against her behaviour

Over a hundred nursing students of Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital protested outside the premises on Saturday against their vice-principal, for allegedly insulting a student and tearing her uniform.

According to them, this was vice-principal Nirmala Singh's way of punishing the student for wearing an untidy uniform. Though, the strike was called off on Saturday night only, no complaint has yet been lodged with police.u00a0According to the police, the victim and her friends are trying to take revenge from Nirmala.

"A few months ago, 18 girls of the hostel went on leave without informing the hostel authorities. They then had an argument when they returned and were punished. Since then, they are miffed with the vice-principal and this could be a reason to accuse her," said a cop.

The official said they have nothing to do with the departmental enquiry of the RML hostel. "The hospital may have formed a committee, but this is their departmental matter. Police is looking after the allegations made by the victim," he said. Nirmala claimed the incident was fictitious.

"Before lodging an FIR, we will question a few more eye witnesses," the official said. "We are waiting for the enquiry committee to give their final report. I spoke to Nirmalau00a0 but she has denied all charges. An inquiry has been ordered and we have asked her to go on leave till the pending report comes in. which is to be submitted on Tuesday," said Dr T S Sidhu, medical superintendent, RML Hospital.
