Delhi police on Monday arrested five persons from north Delhi for allegedly committing a number of robberies and carjacking. The accused have been identified as Anish, Shamshuddin, Ashu, Ajay alias Terasim and Vivek. Before committing a crime, Ashu used to collect all the details information regarding the victim persons such as how much amount are they going to deposit in the banks.

On March 12 when Bhawani Shanker along with two other employees of Ganga flour mill were going to deposit cash in Union Bank of India Ashok Vihar, Delhi in a Santro Car where some four bike-borne assailants intercepted their car and robbed their bag containing Rs 20 lakh at gunpoint.

Tip-off
On August 8, police received information about the accused persons that they are coming from Lawrence Road to commit another robbery. "Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and apprehended four accused persons from B-Block in Lawrence Road Industrial Area and recovered two country-made pistols along with five live cartridges from their possession," said a senior police officer.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they came to Lawrence Road to rob a businessman of Lawrence Road Industrial Area. "The accused also admitted to their involvement in the robbery of Rs 20 lakh and of Rs 15 lakh from Hari Nagar on August 1," added the officer.

Later, police also arrested the accused, Ajay, who used to supply SIM cards on fake ID to the accused persons. We have recovered two country-made pistols along with five live cartridges, two motorbikes and Rs 70,000 from their possession," said Meenu Choudhary, DCP northwest Delhi.
