Rock for freedom

The Harley Rock Riders Season IV is kickstarting by seeking Rock anthems on the theme of freedom. If you make the cut, you will get a chance to perform at the 2014 European Bike Week in Austria. The event is part of the year-long global celebrations of Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary and the theme is freedom.

To kickstart the process, there will be performances in the city by Indian Rock bands -- The Light Years Explode and Arquebus.

Members of the music band Arquebus

The Lightyears Explode are a three-piece Garage / Indie / Punk band from Mumbai. Formed in 2009, the band comprises of Aaron Carvalho on drums, Shalom Benjamin on bass and Saurabh Roy on guitars/vocals.

Arquebus is a Hard Rock band from Mumbai, which was formed when a bunch of musicians, inspired by vocalist Pradeep Pande from the extreme metal band Infernal Wrath, came together and fulfilled their dream of forming a Rock ‘n’ Roll band. It comprises Amey Chautray (Infinite Redemption), Nandan Maisheri (Infinite Redemption and Shadow Fiend), Amnish Lohire (Cosmic Infusion and Infernal Wrath) and Saurav Mukherjee .

Pande says that this will be the first time that Arquebus will perform in Pune. “We plan to rock Pune and give the audiences an amazing time and their money’s worth. We plan to express our personal freedom in the language of Rock. We will be playing original compositions along with a few covers of some great bands that have been inspirational for the music and journey of our band.”

Maisheri adds, “Rock music is not just a passion for us; it is a way of life. It is what inspires us to think, to believe and to live. We are driven by it.”

Pande emphasises that the craze for Rock music has not diminished, “Rock music cuts across generations, ages, regions and cultures. We will always have musicians making Rock music and people listening to it. The music reaches the fans no matter where they are. We have more venues, concerts and festivals in India than ever before.”

On August 8, 7 pm onwards
At Hard Rock Café, Koregaon Park.
