Bengaluru: Leading sports enterprise EduSports on Tuesday tied up with the tennis academy of professional player Rohan Bopanna to coach school students across the country.

"We will offer coaching in schools across the country with a structured curriculum to boys and girls of seven years age and above under the EduSports programme," said Bopanna on the occasion.

The city-based EduSports partners with 650 schools in 250 cities across the country and engages with 500,000 students in sporting activities. Its programmes are designed by an advisory panel comprising sports psychologists, educationists and sport professionals with experience in diverse games.

"Under the partnership, the academy will also help prepare trainers to teach the sport with international quality standards. An after-school programme will enable the kids to learn the sport with specialised training and equipment," EduSports co-founder Jyoti Majmudar told reporters here.

EduSports has been encouraging schools to adopt a curriculum-based, age-appropriate and structured physical education and sports programme.

"The academy aims to develop tennis at the grass-root level by wooing children to experience and enjoy the game. Association with EduSports will help us extend the reach of our programme to engage more kids across the country," noted Bopanna.

EduSports also offers football and basketball programmes with English professional club West Bromwich Albion and Assist Basketball Network.

"Through global partnerships, we aim to improve the coaching quality of our faculty and expose children to visiting foreign coaches," added Majmudar.
