Los Angeles: CBS has ordered a pilot for a TV series based on 1998 American action comedy film 'Rush Hour'.

'Cougar Town' creators Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick have penned an adaptation of the 1998 movie, which originally starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The story will follow a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer who is partnered with a cocky local LAPD officer, who has no interest in working with a partner.

Lawrence recently described the show as: "New plot, same characters, a little younger, a little different, fish out of water. It's a cool script. I'm psyched about it."

Three 'Rush Hour' movies starring Chan and Tucker were released between 1998 and 2007.

CBS has also ordered two other comedy pilots, 'Super Clyde' and 'Joe Time'.

'Super Clyde' is being redeveloped after an initial pilot order in 2013 which starred 'Harry Potter' actor Rupert Grint.

The story focuses on a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who finds his calling.

'Joe Time' chronicles a man who struggles to feel happy for others around him pursing their dreams and enjoying their lives more than him.
