Sachin Tendulkar's oldest fan is no more. Mary Serrao (93), who shares her birthday with the April 24-born batting legend, managed to meet her idol thanks to this newspaper in May 2009 at Mehboob Studio where Tendulkar was shooting a commercial. They cut a birthday cake together.

Serrao passed away peacefully on Wednesday. She even witnessed the second day's play of Tendulkar's farewell Test (against West Indies) on November 15, 2013.
"I remember meeting her. She was a wonderful lady and always wished well for me. I am sure her blessings will always be with us," said Tendulkar on receiving the news of Serrao's death.
