India's badminton star enters final after World No 1 Wang Yihan retires

India’s star badminton player Saina Nehwal entered the women’s singles final of the Denmark Open Superseries after World No 1 Wang Yihan of China retired from the last four clash here on Saturday. Fourth-ranked Saina was leading 21-12, 12-7 when Wang decided to quit. Prior to the semi-final, Saina had a 0-6 record against the Chinese.

Saina, seeded third in the tournament, will take on Juliane Schenk of Germany in the title match on Sunday. The Indian leads 5-3 in her meetings against Schenk, who got the better of China’s Jiang Yanjiao in the other semi-final. She came from behind for a 13-21, 21-14, 21-15 win.
