Skeletons have been continually tumbling out of Raghuveer Singh’s closet since the decomposed body of his mother Sandhya Singh was found in a small pond adjoining a mangrove in Navi Mumbai on January 28.

Murky details emerge: Sandhya Singh’s decomposed body was found in a pond adjoining a mangrove in Navi Mumbai.

The deceased was missing since December 13 last year. Turns out, on January 27 Raghuveer and his girlfriend had visited the area where Sandhya’s remains were later discovered.

“When we got the call records of the suspect from the network provider, we learnt that Raghuveer and his girlfriend Shreya Verma were present near the spot. The details show that the duo was in Pune on January 27, but came back to Navi Mumbai later in the evening and visited the neighbourhood where the body was found,” said a Crime Branch officer.

It’s notable that on Saturday, Raghuveer’s father Jay Prakash Singh, who was by his side at Thane sessions court, conceded that circumstances had made him unable to rule out his son’s involvement in his wife’s murder.

Police officials say that when a servant had enquired about the missing Sandhya Singh, Raghuveer had said, “Teri aunty toh mar gayi hai (she is dead),” whereas when family members began probing him, he had proclaimed, “Mummy ka toh murder hi hua hoga (Mother must have been murdered).” The servants have also asserted in their statement that Raghuveer asked them to extract gold and money from Sandhya’s cupboard so he could support his drug addiction.

Also, on December 14 the suspect had asked his sister, who is in Karnataka pursuing her education, to call up and find out from Sandhya’s brothers music composer duo Jatin-Lalit whether she was at their place. “He had also informed his father about Sandhya going missing and Jay Prakash had told him to make enquiries. But later in the evening he claimed that his mother’s sugar level was low and she was resting in their Bhimashankar residence in Pune,” added the officer. u00a0
