'Sasural Simar Ka' gets extension, cast members recall funniest scenes

Sasural Simar Ka is among the few Hindi serials that garnered the attention of lovers of American dramas as well. Teenagers who binged on Netflix’s offerings took notice of the show to mock the protagonist’s metamorphosis into a housefly, or the replication of the Hall of Faces from Game Of Thrones in this family drama.

As the show, initially speculated to go off air, gets an extension, we connect with the cast members to reflect on the most laughable moments.

Manish Raisinghan

Played: Siddhanth Bhardwaj
Avika Gor and I were chasing a ghost in one scene, when I had to ask her, ‘tumhari aatma friend aayi kya?’ It took us hours to finish filming it since we couldn’t stop laughing. In a scene, she tells the spirit, ‘Kanoon ko apne haat mein mat lo.’ Imagine saying that to a ghost! It was hilarious.

The makers had decided on an impromptu act. Simar and I had to shadow a baba to a haunted place and follow the cues listed on balloons, as the makers filmed us. It was so bizarre.

Sara Khan

Played: Maya / Roli

Jyotsna Chandola

Played: Khushi
I played the antagonist. In one sequence, I was to be seen at the receiving end of someone’s mischief as a laxative had been mixed in my food. I had to keep running to the washroom and pretend to have loose motions.

Jayati Bhatia
Played: Maataji
A scene needed to showcase a brawl between Rohan [Mehra] and Varun [Sharma], as the family tried to break them. At the rehearsal itself, Varun managed to bruise us as we pulled him away. After the rehearsal, he announced that he had put in minimal energy at the moment, but would give ‘a 100 per cent’ during the final shot. We looked at him in bewilderment and feared for our safety.
