Mumbai: The Bombay High Court today posted for hearing on June 23 a petition seeking cancellation of the tender awarded to Larsen and Toubro (L&T) for installation of over 6,000 CCTVs in the city in the wake of 26/11 terror attacks.
The petitioner Visul Defence Technology Pvt Ltd claims that L&T does not meet the tender criteria fully. One of the clauses of the tender was that the bidder should get an aggregate of 70 per cent 'marks' and more than 60 per cent 'marks' in individual sub-categories. Although L&T scored aggregate 82 per cent, in two sub categories its score was less than 60 per cent, it says.

VDTPL also claims that it has better technology and software which can be customised. Its lawyer Hiten Venugopal also argued that VDTPL had undertaken similar projects for cities in Gujarat --Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Vadodara and in Sabarmati jail.
The petition prays that a fresh tender be issued. "We are not saying that we be awarded the project. We are just saying that fresh bids should be called," said Venugopal. The division bench of Justices V M Kanade and B P Colabawalla would hear the petition further on June 23.
