The incident took on place near Vishrantwadi crematorium yesterday morning. Police officials suspect that the explosion might have taken place after a detonator, which could be a part of the scrap, exploded when the chunk was set on fire.u00a0

Police officials said the detonator might have landed at the shop after getting mixed with other junk articles.

Khan was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he is been undergoing treatment. Doctors said pieces of metal, which flung in the air after the explosion took place, inflicted serious injuries on Khan’s.

Soon after the blast, a number of senior police officials, including Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Crime branch and officials from the Vishrantwadi police station rushed to the spot to assess the situation. Dog squad, along with Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), were pressed into action to find out the exact cause of the explosion.u00a0
