A Panchsheel Vihar resident paid heavy price for taking an advertisement on its face value. According to police, Mamta saw an advertisement in a newspaper about a skin clinic, Crystal Aura, in East of Kailash.

The complainant went there for treatment of her freckles, where she was offered other treatments as well. She then decided to undergo breast augmentation surgery, which the clinic staff claimed was absolutely safe.

"According to the complainant, the clinic offered her a written guarantee and prescription regarding the surgery. The complainant was asked to first deposit a certain amount of money.

The surgeon also promised that she will receive only four injections but she was given nearly 10-15 injections during the course of the procedure," said a police official.

6 months, no relief
He said events took an ugly turn when even after six months of the surgery, the complainant felt no relief. She then alleged that when she reported the matter to the clinic, she was manhandled by the staff.

The surgeon even told her that they were not scared by her tactics. The clinic also failed to provide her appropriate knowledge of the substance used in her surgery. Soon, the complainant was suffering from blue marks, itching and pain.

After her condition started to deteriorate, she registered a complaint with the police. Mamta is now seeking complete reimbursement and an investigation into the credentials of the surgeon concerned.

"There is no dearth of quacks in the city and they make such promises every day. People should always cross check and gain adequate information about the credibility of such haunts.

Especially when they are thinking of undergoing specialised surgeries. No step should be taken without proper knowledge into the matter," said a police official. Authorities at the clinic, however, denied all charges and claimed the clinic did not even perform surgeries.
