Australia selector and wicketkeeping legend Rod Marsh is a huge fan of MS Dhoni. As he made his way out to the parking lot here at the Manuka Oval yesterday, MiD DAY sought his views on the Indian captain's glovework. Is he too unorthodox?
"Unconventional or not, my views about him have always remained the same - from the first day I saw him. He's a bloody good wicketkeeper," he said. When asked if he and his selection panel had picked the best possible side to challenge India at Boxing Day, Marsh smiled back, drew a blank and entered his car.
Penney, India's Pele
India fielding coach Trevor Penney displayed some sharp football skills as the team unwounded with a game after the second warm-up match ended in a draw here at the Manuka Oval.
While most autograph hunters were desperately waiting for the boys to make their way to the team bus, the players got a little carried away with their game.
"Why aren't they coming out yet?" a Sikh fan yelled. Penney's dribbling and passing skills proved a touch too much for slow movers such as Gautam Gambhir and R Ashwin.
After a while, it appeared as if Penney was letting the players have it easy. He perhaps didn't want to give an inferiority complex to his teammates!
