Seven members of a family including a baby girl have been 'missing' since nine months from Nalasopara area in neighbouring Palghar district, police said on Friday.

The missing persons have been identified as Ramdas Igve (55), his wife Mangala, sons Bhavin (25) and Sachin (24), daughters-in-law Asha (20) and Ujwala (21) and Asha's 10-month-old daughter. The missing complaint was filed by Rajshree and Prabhakar Garavat, Asha's parents, at Tuling police station on December 8, SP (Palghar) Sharda Raut said.

The complainant has alleged that a month after Asha delivered a baby, her in-laws took her away, after which the entire Igve family went 'untraceable'. The Igve family, which was in astrology business, lived on the third floor of Vaishnavi Sadan, Naleshwar Nagar in Nalasopara (East).

According to police, Asha's parents had visited their daughter's house a month after she returned from their place after delivering the girl child early this year. The complainants were aghast to learn from neighbours that the entire Igve family had moved out, police said.

Subsequently, the complainants have been visiting the houses of several relatives and friends of the Igve's in Mumbai, Gujarat and Hyderabad to trace them but all their efforts have proved futile so far, police said.

Also, the cellphones of Igve family are not reachable. Meanwhile, investigators are using technical expertise and human intelligence to trace the 'missing' family.
