The team conducted a raid and arrested Alam near Old Delhi Railway Station. A 9 mm pistol, along with four live cartridges, was recovered from his possession," said the police official.

During interrogation, Alam told the police official that he committed his first robbery in 1990 when he was only a 14-year-old.

He came in contact with Shahabuddin in 1998 and became his close associate. Alam then started working for Shahabuddin as his sharp shooter and killed several of his rivals.
The official said Shahabuddin wanted to take control over a monastery in Dhanouti in Mujahida village in Bihar. Aftab shot dead 11 persons in a single day, who were against Shahabuddin, in this pursuit.
"Four persons were from the Muslim community while seven others were from the Yadav community," said the police official.
"In 2004, Alam and his associates shot dead Harender Bhagat in front of Siwan Court as he objected to the alleged booth capturing by the associates of Shahabuddin during the Lok Sabha elections," the official said.
In 2002, again at the instance of Shahabuddin, Alam abducted Ashok Kumar Sahu, a resident of Panchrukhi, Siwan from a market.
