Shirish Kunder ousted from 'Ungli'?
Buzz is that the editor has apparently been shown the door from Karan Johar's upcoming production
Looks like bad times are still dogging Shirish Kunder with buzz that the editor has been ousted from Karan Johar’s next film Ungli. Insiders say Deepa Bhatia (director Amole Gupte’s wife) has been roped in to fill in for him after creative differences broke out between KJo and Kunder.
Currently with no work in his kitty, buzz is that Farah Khan’s husband is now concentrating on his next directorial venture, which he plans to start soon.
Says a source, “The film has seen some delay in its making. And now with problems between Karan-Rensil D’Silva (director) and Kunder, the makers had to look for an alternative. They felt Kunder was taking too much time to edit the film. Deepa is Karan’s trusted editor who has also worked on My Name is Khan and Student of The Year. She has already started work on the film.”
Kunder however denies being ousted from the project. He states, “Not true. I do not professionally edit anymore, not even my wife’s film (Farah’s Happy New year).
This was a small commitment I had taken on till July, as I was still deciding what to direct next. This was to release in September but got delayed and my commitment ended in July. I had to move on my to directorial venture. Moreover, Karan and I have never once spoken on this project.”
Karan remained unavailable for comment.
Change of fortune?
Ever since his infamous slapping incident with Shah Rukh Khan, Lady Luck seems to be eluding Kunder. With a tiff with Akshay Kumar coming to light, their film Joker also proved to be a dud at the box office. Soon after, producer Sajid Nadiadwala allegedly replaced him from Kick and then came buzz that he wouldn’t be editing Farah’s film.
