"Uddhav ji went to the hospital this morning for a routine checkup and would be discharged later on Wednesday. There is nothing to worry," a Shiv Sena spokesperson told PTI.

The checkup is a follow-up of angioplasty procedures he underwent in 2012.

Thackeray underwent a second successful angioplasty procedure at Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra in November, 2012.

He had undergone the first angioplasty operation in July, 2012 after repeated bouts of unbearable chest pain. Tests had revealed multi-vessel blockages in his heart after which doctors had recommended two angioplasty surgeries.
