I dated a boy for a year, after which we decided to end it because there was nothing happening. A few weeks ago, we reconnected online and chatted for a few hours. It made me think about him in a whole new light, probably because I haven't dated anyone since him. He says he likes chatting with me too, but I don't know if this means he wants us to get back and give the relationship another chance. I am wary of going down that road again, because we both discussed it at length when we decided to end it. Should I give him another chance? My friends think I'm being emotional and stupid, but I don't know if this is meant to be something else without giving it another shot. What if I regret not doing it a few years from now?

There's nothing wrong with meeting him again a few times to figure out where this is going. You're probably jumping to conclusions about reigniting this relationship without actually spending time with him and seeing whether or not there is hope for this to evolve in some way. Chatting with someone online after a while is radically different from meeting someone in real life. This isn't about being emotional or stupid; it's about taking things one step at a time, starting with an actual conversation in real life.

Is it wrong for two people in love to not talk about where they think their relationship is going, out of fear that they might jinx it? I think communication is important, but I'm not so sure about discussing this.
I'm not sure I understand. Are you and someone you are in a relationship with avoiding discussions about your future? You can't change the future by not talking about it. In fact, the future of your relationship depends on you both actively taking an interest in it, which implies open and honest communication about what you want it to be like.
