Cupid
The Cupid is the Roman God of Love, and the son of Venus, the goddess of love. It is said that if Cupid shoots his arrow of love and hits you, you will fall madly in love with the next person you meet. The name Cupid comes from the Latin word Cupido meaning ‘desire’.

Teddy Bear
The teddy bear represents a perfect partner, someone whom you can hug when you are feeling low, a loyal companion and an attentive listener. In 1902, US President Theodore Roosevelt rescued a bear in Mississippi. The story of his kindness spread, and toymakers started selling bears calling them Teddy's bears.

During the Dark Ages, people thought that heart was the central nervous organ not realising that the brain was actually in charge. Also, the feeling of ‘flutter’ or sensation around the chest made people feel that love was actually from the heart.

In the middle ages, it was believed that doves chose their mates on February 14, which marked the end of winters. The dove is a symbol of Valentine’s Day because it is a representative of the Goddess of Love, Venus. Like the dove, lovebirds also form a very lasting relationship with their mates, sometimes for life.
