Yarislei Silva upset world champion Fabiana Murer of Brazil in the women's pole vault on Monday to lead a Cuban gold rush in athletics at the Pan American Games.

Yarislei Silva upset world champion Fabiana Murer of Brazil in the women's pole vault on Monday to lead a Cuban gold rush in athletics at the Pan American Games. Silva won with a Pan American Games record of 4.75m, while Murer was second with a vault of 4.70.
