The lady in white is synoymous with English talk shows on the small screen. But with an offer to do a show in Hindi (a first for her!), she is brushing up on the national language.

She says, “It’s not that I don’t know Hindi. I have been a Hindi film actress, remember? It is just that when you are a host, you have to be fluent in the language and have a good vocabulary. I don’t want to be breaking into English in a Hindi talk show.”
Simi has a professional Hindi teacher tutoring her as part of her preparations for the show. To be aired on Colors, her programme is slated to go on air in mid-2013. “As I have time, I felt I should get my pronunciations right and my Hindi which has become a bit rusty in place,” she says.
As reported ‘Simi goes desi’(Hitlist, July 23), she was approached by the channel to host a new season in Hindi for them. As she is able to enlist A-list stars for her show and get them to pour out their hearts, the channel feels they can grab more eyeballs if done on a Hindi entertainment channel.
Over a million and counting
Simi Garewal launched her personal website on her birthday on October 17. The actress-anchor has received over a million hits in the past two months. Being on social media is giving her a new high. She says, “I have designed and written every word on the site. Most importantly I have been extremely forthright and spoken about even personal stuff like my marriage and loves. As I have interviewed stalwarts from every field there are anecdotes about all of them. It is a treasure trove of information. People are telling me I should write a book.”
