Six child labourers were rescued from a sari factory in Mumbai and its owner was arrested, police said on Wednesday

Six child labourers were rescued from a sari factory in Mumbai and its owner was arrested, police said on Wednesday.


Acting on a complaint filed by an NGO, police conducted a search operation on Tuesday night at a sari factory on Ismail Curtay Road, a senior official of of J J Marg police station, said.


Six minor boys, who had been forced to work in the factory and suffering form different illness, were rescued, he said.


The factory owner was arrested and a case under relevant sections of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act was registered against him, the officer said, adding probe is underway.
