Slamming Padmaavat gets Swara Bhasker in trouble with online trolls
Swara Bhasker is being trolled by Bollywood folk and netizens for slamming Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' in an open letter
Swara Bhasker is being trolled by B-Town folk and netizens for slamming Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' in an open letter. Accusing Bhansali of glorifying "jauhar and sati", she wrote, "I felt reduced to a vagina only." While some users questioned her choice of films considering her belief system, others pointed out that it is not a filmmaker's duty to send out social messages through films. Singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi tweeted, "Aren't these feminist debates on Padmaavat rather dumb? It's a story ladies — not an advocacy of Jauhar, for God's sake.
Find another battle for your cause — a real one. Not historical fiction... Funny that an actress who can play an erotic dancer/ prostitute with such elan should feel like a vagina after watching a story of a pious queen. What standards are these... tch tch." Writer duo Siddharth-Garima, who penned a song for Padmaavat, responded to Bhasker's letter by writing an open letter of their own, titled An Open Letter To All Vaginas. It begins with the dictionary definition of feminism and then goes on to decry the concept.
