Smeet Shah's brace helped Rustomjee International School (Dahisar) beat Thakur Public School (Kandivli) 3-0 to seal a berth in the quarter-finals of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association-organised inter-school U-16 Div III football tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.

Shubh Jain scored the other goal as the Dahisar outfit registered their second win in as many games.

Both teams started with great intent. However, it was Rustomjee, who got the better of Thakur as the match progressed.

Smeet, who had scored in his team's win over St Rock's High School (Andheri), continued in the same vein, firing his team's first goal in the third minute of the match. With the momentum on their side, Rustomjee players started to express themselves as they made inroads into the opposition box. Their persistence paid off when defender Shubh Jain received a cross from the right flank and stabbed it in the opposition goal to help his team go into the break with a two-goal lead.

The Dahisar side continued from where they had left after the break, as they continued attacking. They were immediately rewarded when an error from the Thakur's goalkeeper saw a shot from Smeet roll in to the goal. The goal summed up the performance of the Kandivli school as the dominant Rustomjee ran them ragged.
