Snooker: No mountain too high for Subramaniam

Apr 07, 2012, 06:55 IST | Sundari Iyer

Polio-hit Matunga Gymkhana cueist V Subramaniam has been playing despite having no vision in his right eye.

He underwent a bypass operation last year and was whitewashed yesterday 0-3 (53-19, 52-17, 66-36) by Khar Gymkhana’s Pawan Kohli in the second qualifying round of the Bombay Gymkhana ‘Strokes’ Snooker Invitational Open Tournament.

But the 40-year-old tutor vows to carry on, no matter what: “The bypass surgery that I had a year ago actually has helped me a lot. I play the sport knowing my shortcomings, but I do not take them as a handicap.” Subramanian is ranked second in the state in billiards.
