The cover of this month's fashion magazine Elle, which features a free-spirited Sonam Kapoor, was at the centre of controversy this morning after Delhi-based fashion brand, People Tree, which also has a studio-store in Mumbai, said the print of her dress was their original.

Kapoor is wearing a Christian Dior ensemble on the cover. Orijit Sen and Gurpreet Sidhu of the independent design studio were up in arms, as the Parisian brand was trolled on social media by netizens and members of the Indian fashion fraternity.

"I'd like to set an example here -- so these mega brands with mega budgets think twice before plagiarising the work of small independent creators with impunity. It happens all the time. It must be halted! #Dior #Designparasites (sic)," Sen posted on Facebook. Veteran designer Wendell Rodricks called the act 'Unchristian Dior', asking, "Are you bereft of ideas that you need to steal print designs?" We are going to wait and watch if the luxury giant responds.
