National Cricket Club's left-arm spinner Pushkaraj Chavan continued his fine form to claim 7 for 20 against Greater Mumbai Police in the 'A' division of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League at Cross Maidan yesterday.

Chavan's heroics helped bowl out the policemen for a meagre 59, a total which didn't appear formidable.

But former champions National reckoned without seamer Santosh Shinde, the former Mumbai Ranji Trophy bowler. Shinde blitzed through National's top and middle order, taking six wickets for 15.

Playing safe
At one stage, the hosts were 22 for six with 45 minutes left. National then decided to play safe and saved the game.

Chavan followed up his bowling heroics to stay unbeaten with eight from 14 balls as National ended up with 37 for eight.

Incidentally, Chavan's father Sudhakar, is a former Railways Ranji Trophy player, who led Sunder Cricket Club to an 'A' division Kanga League triumph in 1990. Sudhakar, mainly a batsman, bowled spin as well.

Meanwhile, Islam Gymkhana's Shoaib Khan scored a staggering 156 not out against Sainath SC to help his side post 263 for five. In reply, Sainath SC managed 69 for seven in a drawn game.

Hat-trick for Tandel
In the 'D' division, United Friends SC's Jayesh Tandel (4-32) bagged a hat-trick to help his side bowl out Sunrise SC for 77 at Azad Maidan. Earlier, United Friends scored 88 for five.
