Shah Rukh Khan's film with Rohit Shetty 'Chennai Express' could hit the marquee this Eid as his bete noire Salman may not meet the D-day deadline

For three years in a row, Salman Khan has ruled the box office with his Eid release. But this year owing to some changes in the schedule of Salman Khan’s upcoming film, it may not be completed in time for D-Day. And guess who will be taking his place? Sources say it will be his archenemy Shah Rukh Khan at the marquee!

A source says, “Salman bhai had left his mark on the Eid date since the past three years, with Wanted, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger. This year, it could be SRK who could stake a claim to the date, which is also a holiday everywhere.”

Sunny Deol

And joining SRK at the box office will be Sunny Deol, as reported in ‘Sunny, Sallu to lock horns?’ (HitList, February 22). The source adds, “The release date of Salman’s film is not fixed yet. Rohit Shetty’s film with SRK will release on Eid. This time instead of Salman, it will be SRK fans rushing to the theatre on Eid.”

Past tense
Apparently some tension is expected to creep up between SRK and Sunny’s films respectively. Around 20 years ago, the two acted in Yash Chopra’s Darr (1993). Sunny played Juhi Chawla’s beau and Shah Rukh essayed her obsessive stalker. The film made SRK an overnight sensation while Sunny felt sidelined. He was even reported to have lashed out against Yash Chopra in his interviews and promised never to work with the auteur again. However, in 2009 at Subhash Ghai’s birthday party, Ghai made them shake hands and patch up. u00a0
