Students commit suicide after failing in Maths thrice

SSC results claim two lives

An 18-year-old student, Nilesh Vijay Bhalerao, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Ulhasnagar residence on Friday. Police said he was depressed as this was the third time he had failed in Maths in SSC.

Bhalerao, a resident of Trimurti Colony, Ulhasnagar, got depressed after he learnt that he had failed in Maths for the third consecutive year. He decided to end his life by using a saree to hang from the ceiling fan when his family members were not at home. The Vitthalwadi police have registered an accidental death report (ADR).

In another incident, a Dharavi-based SSC student Michael Robert Salve (17) was found dead on the railway tracks between Kurla and Sion stations. Salve had also failed SSC exams thrice. His neighbours said that he saw his result on the Internet at 1pm. Forty minutes later, he was found dead on the railway track. However, his father claimed it wasn’t a suicide but an accident.u00a0
