SSC results declared, Mumbai's pass percentage stands at 83.05

The Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) released the much-awaited SSC 2014 results today at 1pm. The overall pass percentage of students in the state as well as in Mumbai has gone up by a few points and stands at 81.75% and 83.05% respectively. Once again, the state board has not released any merit list. This practice was discontinued five years ago.

The state also highlighted at the increase in the number of students scoring above 90% this year; this will help state board students secure seats in the top city colleges as compared to ICSE and CBSE class X students. “The results are exceptionally good this year. Students should have no problems getting through to colleges and courses of their choice,” said Laxmikant Pande, Mumbai divisional board chairman. This year, the cases of malpractices in the city also decreased compared to last.

While the results were announced at 1 pm, many schools were struggling to get individual scores of students as they not only had to type the hall ticket number, but also the students’ mother’s name. “This was a lengthy process and we could not download results of our students quickly. This process was easier till last year,” said the principal of a suburban school.
