Cricket kids have ball at Salaam Bombay event at Brabourne Stadium
St Anthony’s High School opener Vaibhav Patil’s unbeaten 46 helped them register a 14-run win over Blue Blazing Boys in the final of the U-17 Little Masters Challenge, an annual cricket tournament for kids organised by Salaam Bombay Foundation, at the Cricket Club of India’s (CCI) Brabourne Stadium yesterday.

The final was an interesting affair where Vaibhav stole the limelight. The 15-year-old Vakola lad hit five fours in his 24-ball crucial knock. u00a0St Anthony’s scored 85 for two in the allotted 10 overs. In reply, the Blue Blazing Boys managed only 55 for nine in 10 overs with Samshad Shaikh (17) being the highest scorer.
Pioneer champions
Meanwhile, in the U-14 category, Pioneer High School (Kandivali) defeated Incredible Fighters by 10 runs to emerge champions.u00a0It was a low-scoring affair. Pioneer High School put on 56 for four in 10 overs. Opener Sujit Waghmare remained unbeaten on 16.
The Kandivli team fielded well and restricted Incredible Fighters to 46 for six in the stipulated 10 overs.u00a0Former India player Nilesh Kulkarni, ex-Mumbai and Railways cricketers Santosh Saxena and actor Raj Kumar Yadav graced the event.
