Stalk review

Sania Mirza's desperate admirers have made some Bangalore celebs nervous all over again. We get them to share their experiences

It's a record of sorts for Sania Mirza two stalkers arrested in as many days. Both Mohammed Ashraf and Ajay Singh Yadav claim to be in love with Sania.

But then, isn't that an occupational hazard for celebrities?

We get Bangalore's glitterati to open up about their stalkers...

Anusha, model and actress: I had gone to Mumbai a few years back on a modelling assignment when I started getting calls and SMSes from this person who wouldn't even spare me at night. He would say: 'I want to talk to you and meet you. If you don't talk to me, you won't stay in Bombay any more'. I was scared as I was new to the place.

He troubled me for about a month-and-a-half. The interesting thing was he knew a bit about my background. A few days later, I came back to Bangalore and the first thing I did was to change my number.

Now for the past three days, I am getting calls and messages from a guy saying he wants to be my friend. He also wants to know how my dog and cat are, etc. He calls at 10 pm and sometimes even at midnight. I think I will have to change my number again.

Ramya, actress: Last year, during an interview on a Kannada channel, I was asked about my marriage plans and I said resumes were invited. One day, when I was on an outstation shoot, a guy with a resume turned up and waited for me from morning till night. He would keep asking my mother where I was and when I would be free. He kept at it for a week despite my mother's warnings. Later, the police took him away.

More recently, I started getting calls at night. I would hear only deep breathing. I was forced to change my cell number.

Apart from this, fans take pictures with us during shoots and functions and there are chances of them misusing it.

Priya N, model: Not really. I don't remember any such incident. People try to flirt with me during shows but I have not been put in any such uncomfortable situation.

Pooja Gandhi: Luckily, I have not experienced such incidents.

Sharmila Mandre, actress: I get calls from my fans and they talk to me in a friendly way. But I have not come across any such serious situations.

Radhika Pandit, actress: People keep sending me letters, parcels and flowers. I feel there is no harm in this. Sometimes, it's scary when I think who's behind it. Some of them keep track of everything my audio release programme, birthday, public functions, etc. Luckily, I have not got any threatening calls or messages.
