Railway police track judge's mobile to catch thief in Hyderabad, learn he hid bag containing valuables at sister's home in Daund

With the help of the stolen mobile in the bag, the Pune Railway Police were able to trace the thief to Hyderabad. The accused Vadtyaraja Kishan Chavan (22) a resident of Nagamgalla, Hyderabad, was arrested from his house in Andhra Pradesh two days ago.

Chavan was not a habitual bag-lifter. He had lifted the bag under the influence of liquor. Bag owner Judge Naik was in the city and was going back to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh by Jhelum Express a month ago.
Chavan stole the bag, when it was kept in a queue on platform No 1 and took off for Hyderabad in another train.

Pinpointed by cell
Investigating officer Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Rokade and PI Mahendra Bagade said with the help of the mobile the Chavan's exact location could be traced. He had the mobile phone, while he had hidden the bag in his sister's house in Daund.

"The valuables in the bag including gold and diamond jewellery and an imported digital camera amounting to Rs 2.65 lakh was intact," Bagade told MiD DAY on the phone.

The railway police said that Judge Naik was happy when he was informed that his bag had been recovered.
