Washington: A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 magnitude struck the jungle region of northern Peru yesterday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicentre was located 50 kilometres north of the city of Moyobamba at a depth of 114 kilometres. There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.

According to USGS , the quake epicentre is located on the eastern slope of the Andes.
