Men's top seed Siddharth Suchde earned his maiden State Open crown, while Saumya Karki helped herself to a triple in the 36th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship yesterday.
India No 2 Suchde beat second seed Mahesh Mangaonkar 11-3, 11-9, 11-8 in 45 minutes. Suchde earned R1,40,000 in prize money for his effort.
Meanwhile, Karki won the women's and girls' U-19 and girls U-17 titles beating Urvashi Joshi of Jindal Squash Academy in all three finals. Saumya earned R55,000 in prize money. Sanjay Pawar upset top seed Rohit More of CCI for the Professionals title.
