The list of dessert shops in the Queen of Suburbs keeps growing, and so, we succumbed to the calorific temptation, again, with its latest entrants ufffd Love and Cheesecake and Guilt Trip
We love a good, smooth cheesecake and hoped that Love and Cheesecake, a new dessert kitchen would keep our love alive. Their kitchen is located at the back entry of the building that housed Taxxi and Vitamin K store, previously. It’s not visible from the main road, but once there, you will spot a simple signboard — and yes, you need to ring a bell to enter.

You’ll be greeted to a rotating menu here, and the day we walked in, we got a Chocolate Cheesecake, Red Velvet, Hazelnut and Chocolate pastry and a Praline cheesecake (allu00a0for Rs 180) for our take away.
The Chocolate Cheesecake put us in a light, heady mood —creamy, and was loaded with chocolate. Next up, we plumbed for the Red Velvet, which was of the melt-in-the-mouth variety, and exceptionally soft.
The Hazelnut and Chocolate pastry was passable. As for the Praline version, it would have been great had the praline top been crisp, to counter and compliment the soft cheesecake, for a crunch; their version wasn’t too bad though. What’s worth a try are their chocolates, which, though expensive (R60 for a piece) are full of flavour. We tried their Fennel Chocolate and a Strawberry Yoghurt Chocolate, both filling in a heart-shaped tiny cup of white chocolate — we’ll throw in a few extra brownie points for the unusual tasting fennel chocolate. The yoghurt chocolate was a great example of giving yoghurt a happy twist by being served in cups.
