Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has tendered his resignation as Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Technical Committee Chairman, expressing his desire for someone else to take up the post.
Gavaskar, who held the post for almost eight years, felt that BCCI must replace him with a younger cricketer. Another former captain, Sourav Ganguly, who became a part of the committee during last year's BCCI AGM, is an option for replacement. The other leading candidates are other former cricketers such as Anil Kumble and Mohinder Amarnath.
As of last year, the following were members of the technical committee: Sunil Gavaskar (Chairman), Chetan Chauhan, M V Sridhar, Biman Bhattacharjee, Milind Rege, Gyanendra Pandey, Kris Srikkanth, Sourav Ganguly, VK Ramaswamy, N Srinivasan (convenor).
