Attacks on women continue unabated in the city. A 36-year-old woman was attacked by her husband, who suspected that she was involved in a relationship with another man.
The incident took place last afternoon at Girgaon, when Tipu Sultan attacked his wife Sapna at their home in Patte Baburao Marg. According to the VP Road police, Sultan, an electrician by profession, suspected his wife of being in an adulterous relationship.u00a0

This was a source of contention in the marriage, and the two would argue frequently. “This is Sapna’s second marriage. She married Tipu after her first husband died in 2006. She has two kids from her first husband,” said Rajendra Chavan, senior PI of VP Road police station.
Last week, Sultan went out of the state for some work. When he got back, he learnt from some friends that someone had been visiting his residence.
“He questioned Sapna about it. The argument heated up and he stabbed her four times on the neck and chin,” said Chavan.
Sapna was rushed to Nair hospital, where she is in a critical condition. Sultan fled after the incident, and the VP Road police are now searching for him.u00a0
