Swedish player dies on pitch
Former Helsingborg striker Victor Brannstrom has died after collapsing during a match in the Swedish lower leagues
The 29-year-old had just scored a goal for Pitea in their Division Four South fixture against Umedalen yesterday when he fell to the ground. Brannstrom was transferred to a local hospital by ambulance but was later pronounced dead of suspected cardiac arrest. Swedish news agency TT says Brannstrom had passed out during a match earlier this year. He took a break from the sport to undergo medical tests but returned after doctors found nothing wrong.
