TA band treats audience of 3,000 to foot-tapping music

About 3,000 people tapped their feet to the music of the Territorial Army Fusion Orchestra and Massed Pipe Band as it played popular western classics at the SSPMS grounds on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Territorial Army yesterday.

About 3,000 people tapped their feet to the music of the Territorial Army Fusion Orchestra and Massed Pipe Band as it played popular western classics at the SSPMS grounds on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Territorial Army yesterday.

The Philharmonic Orchestra of more than 80 musicians played the evergreen Hotel California by the Eagles and Somewhere My Love from the film Dr Zivago. The songs were conducted and sung by Subhedar Major Romesh Singh and Sepoy O B Singh respectively.

The band also played Nigerian, Dogri and Nepali folk songs about war, sacrifice and patriotism. The band also played popular Hindi classics and military 'bugle calls', traditionally used for giving commands to soldiers.
Tripura Governor Dr D Y Patil was the chief guest at the event.
