The 48-inch pipeline was developing cracks, which had not been repaired. After the pipeline burst, the repair work is expected to be complete by 4 am today.
Taking cue from the recent pipeline bursts in neighbouring areas, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) recently sanctioned Rs 3.65 crore towards maintenance of its drinking water system.
The annual contract, given to two contractors Raj Enterprises and MM Jadhav includes maintenance of the civic body’s pumping stations at Koparkhairne, Airoli and Digha, along with pipelines, overhead reservoirs, tanks and underground water tanks.
