Targeted innocent housewives in areas stretching from Dahisar to Goregaon
The Malad police arrested a self-proclaimed tantrik baba who performed black magic and hypnotised women with the intention of having sex with them. He was arrested on last evening while molesting a lady at her house in Malad (West).
The accused, identified as Jagdish Bhatt (35), lives in Virar. The police said that he used door-to-door visits to buildings between Dahisar and Goregaon targeting housewives. According to police, at 4 pm on Wednesday, the victim Smita (name changed to protect identity)(37), was alone at her house in Malad (West).

Bhatt rang her doorbell and Smita opened it. He began chanting a mantra and promised her that he could rid her of any problem in two minutes and also read her palm to predict her future.u00a0When he realised she was alone he hypnotised her and attempted to molest her.
Fortunately for the victim, a friend rang her bell in a few minutes and found the accused semi-naked. He immediately called for the police. In her statement to the police, the victim claims to remember nothing and alleges she was hypnotised.
The police are carrying out further investigation. Bhatt has been booked under sections 354 (assault on woman to outrage her modesty) and 509 (act to insult modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code. He will be produced in the Borivli court today and then remanded to police custody. u00a0
