Tarun Tejpal refutes sexual harassment charges; Delhi HC postpones bail hearing
Tarun Tejpal, the Editor-in-chief of Tehelka refuted charges of raping and sexually assaulting a woman colleague at a hotel in Goa, even as the Delhi High court postponed his bail hearing to Wednesday.
The Delhi High Court Tuesday declined to give interim relief to Tehelka news magazine editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal after the Goa Police opposed his plea for anticipatory bail.
Tejpal told the court that the "encounter was only light-hearted bantering which led to a moment of privacy."
Tejpal asked investigators to "examine and release the CCTV footage so that the accurate version of events stands clearly revealed".
He said that the probe by the Goa Police was 'tainted' 'and termed the FIR as "politically motivated".
Faced with the prospect of being arrested, the Tehelka founder on Monday moved court to seek an anticipatory bail after the Goa Police filed an FIR against him for alleged sexual assault of a junior colleague in the state.
